Hudson Bay Railway

The project site is located at Mile 419.4 of the Hudson Bay Railway near Herchmer, Manitoba. The site is only accessible by rail. At this location, there is a bridge that is essential for the railway to cross the Owl River. This bridge has experienced significant movement resulting in a slow order being placed in this stretch of railway. The extend of this movement and reason have yet to be determined. Essential instrumentation must be installed to monitor the extend of and determine the source of this problem. Similar movement has been observed at other railways along the track, hence gaining an understanding of the cause of this heave is essential for maintaining track function and allowing the continued movement of goods to Northen Manitoba.
